The other day i was having a conversation with some friends and we were trying to discuss some characters of the bible. We tried to compare them with us in this day and time. Take Abraham for example who had heard God say to him that he would be a father of a great nation and also promised him a son. Waiting on a known promise for me is better than having to wait for the unknown. Am sure it was the same for Abraham. Constantly wondering if God really promised a son. Sarah came to him with Haggar in Genesis 16:1-11 saying surely God must have forgotten his promise so lets create our own right now. It later on became problematic and Haggar and Ishmael had to go. Looking also at Joseph, that guy must have been super strong. All that while he waited for God to fulfill the promise He made to him. Even in jail he still waited. I am sure they would have loved to be in-control... now that God had shown them/told them what was coming bad things should not have happened so as to lead them to the promise. But they did.
As human beings am sure they grew weary and tired at some point in the journey. They did not give up on God but they sure did question if whatever was promised was really from God. I have come to learn God works in very mysterious ways. He works in His own time and path. Sometimes its far far from our path and plan. Its the reason the Bible says in " Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Its him who knows and not us. Its Him with a plan and not us. Its Him in charge and in control, the one on the drivers seat and not us. All we need to do is fully trust in him , which is so so hard, but very possible. Fully let God's plan come unfolding in your life.
Love, Muthoni
