Wedding plans and trying to clear all my assignments in time has got the blog to be put at halt (sorry for that) I am planning to manage my time well. But hey am back, its been a few great weeks, learning so much about life, marriage and relationships. We have this very great mentor couple who ask us really crazy questions that dig deep in us, whereby you have to really search yourself to get the answer. then later you are left wondering if you really are ready to get married or we are rushing into something we have not yet through. (Baeb am still getting married to you,;-) kwanza my dress is ready picking it next week)... I now understand cold feet, it sure happens, its real wee. Who ever invented weddings, (you sure did well, am not complaining).
This letter I write to a bride wondering what it means to submit just like me.
Dear Future wife,
So far the greatest lesson am learning is how to submit. Please understand me, am 24 years of age never been married and am used to being the leader always, the only people who have had a say over my life is my dad and mum. So submission is a new vocabulary in my life, and it sure has been a struggle and a prayer point. You know some day i want to be a perfect wife to my hubby and i intend to work hard to achieve that. So i had this attitude towards submission.. **obviously its negative**.. I couldn't understand what this submission thing is all about, like when i get married do i stop making my decisions and just sit and wait for the man to do it for me. But now i know better and am looking towards being a submissive wife. The Bible says in Ephesians 5:22-33 NIV
Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
I love how clear and simple it is, all i have to do is submit like the church is to Christ. God loves order that is why He thought it best if the man was the head and wife is to submit. Submission is the divine calling of a wife to honor and affirm her husband's leadership and help carry it through according to her gifts. That is my best understanding of submission to the husband of my choice, because in the end i will always rest assured in Christ as He leads him in leading me.
Am pretty excited, in 16 days I am going to begin the journey as a wife. My prayer is that God will be our guide and foundation.
